CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE EDUCATION AND COACHING
MCAC serves communities with various approaches to childcare that are not represented or adequately supported by traditional institutions. In 2021 a group of women in the Manchester community gathered to discuss childcare and the barriers they often face when utilizing social services. They spoke on their experiences working with providers that did not understand people-centered and culture-centered models, their difficulty accessing state subsidies with family-based care, and an information gap between providers and families. The group worked together to recruit other immigrants and new Americans in a process to co-create childcare options that expand the supply of high quality, accessible culturally appropriate care in Manchester.
